(Note: I booked my room during the Black Friday deals, so I was able to stay at a price cheaper than the standard.) The room I stayed in (Superior Corner King Room) was wide and spacious, far bigger than any hotel room I've stayed at in Japan. Bed was very comfortable - soft but not overly so, so I had no trouble going to sleep. The bathroom has barriers separating the toilet, the sink, and the bathtub/shower stall, which I appreciated. The shower stall and bathroom were also 75% bigger than any I've used before. I did not interact with the staff that much, but found them very friendly and capable of providing guidance in English. The hotel is very close to Ryogoku Station (Sobu Line), which you can take to Akihabara (just 2 stops away) or Shinjuku to access various other subway lines. This also makes it easy to get to and from Narita Airport. If you don't mind a bit of walking, you can get to the hotel without needing any transfers by taking the Keisei Narita Skyaccess to Higashi-Nihombashi. You can get on a water bus at the Ryogoku River Center for a pleasant ride (1 hour and 30 minutes) to and from Odaiba. It might take longer than the subway, but it's far more relaxing and scenic. My room had 2 USB ports, which I appreciated since it meant I could charge my watch and phone without relying on a plug adapter. The food at the hotel restaurant was enjoyable too, I enjoyed the beef stew and the coffee.

We were impressed with our overall experience at this property. First is the location; we chose this property for its quiet location on the beautiful Sumida River, away from the hustle and bustle of the other very busy and touristy Tokyo districts. Second, the hotel itself is very pretty and the rooms are larger than what is typically found in Tokyo (we compared the room square footage and found the rooms at this property were easily 40% larger than other properties in the touristy districts). Third; the staff at the property was top-notch professional and very eager to assist us in any way they could. The housekeeping staff was very polite and serviced our room extremely well every day (our room was spotless when we arrived and throughout our stay!). The restaurant staff was very professional and very courteous. And finally, the front desk staff were "over the top" professional, sweet, courteous, and helpful. We would like to give a special mention to Yu Sekiue at the front desk for assisting us almost every day with special requests. She is very sweet, professional, and an excellent ambassador for The Gate Hotel Ryogoku by Hulic. We look forward to staying at this property on a future visit!

I absolutely LOVED my stay at The Gate Hotel Ryogoku. it's right next to the JR station (great if you have JR pass to quickly pop into Tokyo for free!) with lots of food nearby-restaurants and convenience stores. however-or was also in a more quiet part of the city. staff was helpful with everything and were so kind-they even helped me to help ship my luggage to Narita airport. Unfortunately I don't speak Japanese but everyone at reception spoke English. the room was very large, clean and had a great bathroom. bed was extremely comfortable. and the best part was the rooftop--amazing to soak up Tokyo views. this is a fantastic hotel and I highly to anyone who is looking! I'll be back next time I'm in Tokyo!

The hotel is gorgeous in every aspect and the staff are wonderful. Our room was huge for the price and wonderfully decorated! There are plugs and USB ports in the headboard, great free channels on the TV, and the luggage shipping service at the front desk was such a lifesaver. The location is perfect - Ryougoku is a lovely area and the hotel has a brilliant view of the Sumida River. It's right next to Ryougoku Station, a 7/11, the Ryougoku Kokugikan, the Japanese Sword Museum and plenty of shops/izakayas/bars. It's a great base for exploring Tokyo day by day. We will definitely be coming back! :)

We had an amazing time at the Gate Hotel! The staff were very polite and helpful, doing everything to make us feel comfortable. The breakfast variety was good. Even though the hot dishes selection was limited, it was surely enough. The room was spacious and the bed was huge! Also, the room facing the stadium was very quiet, we did not hear any street noise. On the 9th floor there is a nice terrace with Skytree view, you can visit it to enjoy the time with a drink. The location is also very convenient, the JR station is just in 3 min walk. Definitely would love to come back!
